Summer’s almost over but home drowning risks persist

As Labor Day signals the unofficial end of summer, the risk of drowning does not end. The risk of drowning persists in everyday households. The San Diego Village News featured an important article about preventing a child's "silent death." Six children under the age of two have died due to accidental drowning in San Diego County this year. Two of those children died in a backyard pool, one in a jacuzzi, two in other backyard bodies of water and one in a bathtub. There were four accidental drownings, often called ‘silent deaths,’ in 2010 and nine in 2009, all involving children under the age of 7.
