Life Jackets Save Lives

"A life jacket is the single-most important piece of survival equipment a boater can wear, is the first line of survival for unexpected falls overboard, and buys time necessary for rescue," said Frank Jennings Jr., recreational boating safety program manager for the Ninth Coast Guard District.

For parents it is even more important to set the example of wearing a life jacket, even when kayaking around one’s lake. It is a safety issue and parents need to show children that wearing a life jacket is necessary for all ages and not just a matter of "do what I say, not what I do."
